Rugby: With their pitch still ice-bound, Crieff and Strathearn looked out their curling stones instead.

HAVING last played a home match in October, Crieff and Strathearn Rugby Club were desperately hoping for a resumption of league activities last weekend when scheduled guests were Alloa.

With the Braidhaugh well and truly flooded and ice-bound, development officer Peter Cook and coach Alan Rose arranged for the game to be played at the new Strathearn Community Campus pitch but hard frost saw an unplayable surface and the match was called off on Friday night.

Club chairman Norman Harvey decided that something should be done and quickly arranged bonspiel in the best of roaring game traditions was convened outside the clubhouse.

This Saturday the Blue and Golds travel down to Rosyth to take on Fife Southern with a 2pm kick-off.
