Auchterarder Primrose 6
Bridge of Earn 0
AUCHTERARDER gained revenge for their recent league defeat with this thrashing in the semi-final of the West District Cup.
The convincing win sets up an intriguing final date against local rivals Comrie Rovers, where they will look to retain the trophy they won last season against Vale of Earn.
Auchterarder started strongly and the only surprise was that it took them 19 minutes to open the scoring. A free kick from M Maher was met by Innes, who fired home at the second attempt.
Deans should have increased the lead two minutes later but saw his effort rebound off the post.
Auchterarder were not to be denied though and duly made it two on the half-hour. A fantastic ball from the impressive Robertson was met by Innes, who unleashed an unstoppable volley past the helpless keeper.
It only got worse for the visiting keeper on 37 minutes when he failed to hold onto a shot from M Maher. He parried it into the path of Boyle, who had the easiest of tasks to make it 3-0 at the break.
In the second half the home side continued to dominate and it was pretty much one-way traffic.
Auchterarder made it 4-0 on 53 minutes with the goal of the game. Deans skinned two players then passed the ball to Boyle in the box, who beat another two players then coolly slotted the ball past the keeper. The floodgates had opened and it only took Auchterarder another three minutes to add their fifth of the match. Innes crossed for captain Boyle to complete his hat-trick.
Auchterarder completed the scoring seven minutes from time. A ball from Walker was met by top scorer Patterson, who stabbed it home for his 21st of the season.
