Auchterarder Primrose 5
Comrie Rovers 1
PRIMROSE moved into the last 16 of the Perthshire Cup after a fine victory over their local rivals.
It was an impressive display from the home side, considering this was their first game since December 5, they went into it with nine players unavailable and had to play the last half- hour with their substitute goalkeeper at left back - although Comrie were under strength as well.
Auchterarder were made to fight hard in the first half and made the breakthrough on the half-hour with a good finish from Wilson.
Their lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time after a great pass from Cunningham found Patterson, who ran with the ball from just inside the opposition half to expertly slot home.
Auchterarder increased their lead shortly after the restart when Wilson curled home his second from the edge of the box into the top corner of the net.
Although Comrie pulled one back soon after, Auchterarder restored their three-goal advantage straight away with a fantastic strike from Cunningham 25 yards out.
The game grew a bit heated and Walker had to be replaced after a crude challenge from behind left him with a badly swollen ankle.
Comrie were awarded a penalty moments later when Laing was deemed to have fouled the forward but the spot-kick was well stopped by Reid in the home goal.
Auchterarder completed the scoring towards the end when a cross from Innes was met by Patterson. His first attempt was stopped in the six-yard box but he was first to react to the rebound, throwing himself at the ball to head home.
PRIMROSE: Reid, Boyle, Walker, (Yurdakol), Emerson, Robertson), Johnston, Laing, Burke, Innes, Patterson, Wilson, Cunningham.
