Trophy triumph for Morrison’s old boys

A TEAM of former Morrison’s pupils won the Anniesland Trophy at the London Scottish Schools Golfing Society annual meeting last Tuesday at Denham Golf Club, Bucks.

Against stiff competition including Edinburgh Academy, Loretto, Stewarts Melville, Watsons, Glasgow High School and Glenalmond the Morrisons team of Fraser Kircaldy (captain) 1966, Rob McCall 1967, Iain High 1968 and David Millar 1969 mastered slick greens to win the prestigious trophy.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr Kircaldy said: “We have competed in this annual match for many years against schools, such as Loretto who put in three teams, who have far greater resources than we do. To win was a testimony to the skills and determination of our team.”

Iain High was the individual winner with 37 Stableford points.

As the leaving dates suggest the players are not getting any younger and anyone who knows of golfing Morrisonians in the London area are invited to get in touch with Fraser via the school.
