Going the way of the Mayans?
Are we all going the way of the ancients Mayans? That's the question posed today's scientists, who have been noting striking parallels between the old rainforest civilisation and our own.
Rapid population growth and economic collapse were major factors in the downfall of the South American people, whose once-great cities (which were occuppied by tens of thousands) now lie derelict and over-run by the jungle.
