Fred Morrison to play Comrie's WRI Hall

Comrie will be playing host to a musical legend on Thursday, November 22, when virtuoso piper Fred Morrison gives an intimate concert in Comrie’s WRI Hall.

Organiser Chris Grace told the Herald: “Fred is known worldwide as a piping genius and legend and we are incredibly lucky to have him play in Comrie. He is an extraordinary multi-instrumentalist and is equally proficient on highland, border small and uileann pipes and whistles.

“Accompanying him will be another virtuoso and talented musician, Matheu Watson, who features on Fred’s latest album ‘Outlands’. Fred is no ordinary piper and those who know of his music won’t come along expecting the usual pipe tunes because Fred has taken his instrument to a different level altogether.

“‘‘Outlands’ came out to rave reviews and is an extraordinary mix of bagpipes and bluegrass.” Fred has been described as the Jimi Hendrix of the pipes.

“This will be a full-on, roof-raising night of fabulous music which will be opened by the Strath’s young prizewinning piper, Connor Sinclair.”

The concert starts at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 and are available from Comrie Post Office, the CDT office and Hansen’s Kitchen. BYO (no bar).
