Weather didn’t spoil Lang Toon in June

THE wet weather didn’t dampen spirits during this year’s Lang Toon in June.

The week was packed with activities for residents and visitors to Auchterarder and the committee thanked all who supported their efforts for their “help, donations and generosity”.

Despite the wet weather causing the fun run to be cancelled, other events were great successes, including the archery and shooting at the Gleneagles Shooting and Fishing School, the pet dog show and the tots and toddlers fancy dress tea party.

The ladies indulgence night, “Sip, Shop and Sparkle” was considered of the programme’s “star events” by organisers.

On Saturday, the fayre was held at the Auchterarder Community Church Centre, where there was a great turnout.

But it wasn’t just the events that gave the Lang Toon in June its colour. Many High Street businesses decked out their windows in red, white and blue -- this year’s theme for the window dressing competition.

The judges had a hard time narrowing down a winner, but in the end the top prizes went to the British Red Cross shop for their full window display, and Kiddie Kouture for their half window.

The week rounded off with the Picnic in the Park and despite miserable weather leading up to it, spirits were high.

Live music came courtesy of The Niblicks, Ellis Hill and Lewis Hamilton and the Boogie Brothers.

Golf pros from Gleneagles were on hand to help people perfect their swing and putting, members of Crieff and Strathearn Rugby Club held a throwing challenge and Live Active Leisure had children’s games.

There was also a human table football and Segways, which proved popular with people old and young.
