Strathearn’s fantastic fireworks draw the crowds
STRATH residents were treated to two fantastic fireworks displays at the weekend.
First up was a dazzling display at Laggan Park organised by Comrie PTA, where the clear night made for a great show of sizzling Catherine wheels, Roman Candles and rockets.
The following evening, on Guy Fawkes night itself, hundreds flocked to Market Park for the annual fireworks organised by Crieff Round Table.
Glow sticks were sold out five minutes after they went on sale as the children played around with the modern and safer alternative to sparklers while waiting for the pyrotechnics to begin.
And it wasn’t long before Crieff’s sky was lit up by a magnificent display accompanied by music blasting from the loud speakers situated around the park.
Afterwards, a Round Table spokesman said: “We’d like to thank the good folk of Crieff for turning out in droves and supporting the event and Round Tablers for all their help and for continuing to volunteer their time and resources.”
“Thanks also to Crieff Highland Gathering, which provided the sound system this year, First Response, Tayside Police, Tayside Fire and Rescue, and to Crieff Cubs for making the Guy.
“The event raised £3400 – a record amount. Some of the money will go to an even more spectacular show next year with a large chunk being used to support local charities.”
