A CYCLIST has died following an accident near Comrie at the weekend.
50-year-old John Yates, from Killearn on the outskirts of Glasgow, was taking part in an organised cycling event, which started in Strathblane and took in Braco and Comrie as part of the route, when he came off his bike on Sunday.
He was part of a group of about 20 cyclists travelling on the B827 Braco to Comrie road at about 11.50am, when he fell from his bike and suffered a serious head injury, from which he never recovered.
Police officials confirmed that an air ambulance took Mr Yates to Glasgow Southern General Hospital, where it was later confirmed that he had died.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and, as with all sudden deaths, a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
And officers were quick to point out that investigations showed that no cars or motor vehicles were involved in the incident.
