COMRIE’S new community vehicle was unveiled on Saturday.
Funded by donations, a Big Lottery Awards for All grant, and cheques from the Robertson Trust and Perth and Kinross Council Community Transport Fund, the new Co Co Bus is a top-of-the-range 17-seater Ford Transit that can accommodate two wheelchairs.
The old Co Co Bus committee, who worked tirelessly to raise money to keep the well used means of transport on the road, felt it was time for an upgrade and are happy that the new purchase has been made in time for them to go out on a high.
Thanking everyone who has helped in the past, outgoing chairperson Nancy McRae told the Herald: “We are now looking forward to the future of the brand new bus under a restructured committee, which will come under the umbrella of the Comrie Fortnight.
“I would like to thank the old committee for all their hard work and also everyone who has donated and helped out over the years.
“I hope that people will still keep up their support of this very useful village resource and I am looking forward to seeing it able to be used by all members of the community.”
The Co Co Bus is available for hire to all of Strathearn’s local groups and organisations and bookings can be made by calling 670 322.
