PARKS in Auchterarder, Greenloaning and Braco will get made over this month.
After public consultations with residents, Perth and Kinross Council has announced the start dates for the works.
On Monday, February 8, groundworks begins at the Braco and Greenloaning play areas for either one or two weeks. The park will then reopen until the play equipment is installed on Monday, March 22.
The Braco facility will see a new large seesaw, multi-activity unit and a roundabout, as well as “natural play provision” including a sand pit, logs, boulders and an informal play wall.
And along with Greenloaning - which is getting a roundabout and swings - there will be community tree planting.
Meanwhile, Kincardine Road Park in Auchterarder will close for around six weeks from Monday, February 15 while the area is upgraded.
This will include installation of new play equipment (swings for young and older children, seesaw, roundabout, slide and multi-activity unit for older children) and natural play facilities (mounding / logs / boulders). Community tree planting will be organised at a later date.
Strathallan ward councillor Ann Gaunt expressed her pleasure that the work was starting.
She told the Herald: “I am delighted that work is now starting on the two play areas. They have been designed after two very successful consultation days which were held in both Auchterarder and Muthill, both of which were well attended by the local communities, in particular the young people who will be the end-users of the equipment.
“The designs are very exciting and innovative and I am sure will prove a delight for youngsters to use. All in all a very good result in terms of community engagement.”
A council spokesperson said: “The council regrets any inconvenience the short-term closures may cause but hopes parents and families will enjoy using the new and improved play areas once they are complete.”
