Fundraising pupils help to light up Crieff

MEMBERS of Crieff Primary’s Pupil Council plus representatives from P3 to the nursery presented Crieff Community Councillor John Robinson with a cheque for £236.42 on Friday for the Christmas lighting fund.

The youngsters, pictured above, raised the funds at the end of term when the whole school was given the option to pay up to a £1 to dress up for Hallowe’en.

Mr Robinson thanked the pupils and staff at the school for their support to light up the town this festive season.

This year’s Christmas light switch on will take place in James Square, Crieff, on Saturday, November 28. There will be plenty of fun for all the family during the build up to the big turn-on including a mini panto performed by Crieff Drama Group in the Scout Hall, live music and a visit from Santa Claus himself.

The fun is set to run from 2pm until 5pm. Be sure to look in next week’s edition for the full programme of events.

This year the Crieff Community Initiative, who look after the town’s illuminations are erecting new lights in Comrie Street, on the Tourist Information Centre and the entrance to Crieff on the Muthill Road. A new main display will go up in Crieff High Street and there will be a complete new set of lights on the main tree in James Square plus four new motifs on the fountain.

If you would like to contribute to the Crieff Christmas lighting fund any cheques or donations can be handed in to Stephen Rodger at the Pretoria Bar, Angus MacDonald, Arduthie House or Bob Ferguson, Burgess and Gibson.
