Crieff hotel stunned by closure rumours

RUMOURS that another Strathearn Hotel is set to shut its doors were firmly quashed by the establishment’s owners this week.

Speaking to the Strathearn Herald yesterday, Carole-Ann Hopkins, who runs the Meadow Inn in Crieff’s Burrell Street with business partner Bob Russell, said: “There is absolutely no truth in the rumours that the Meadow Inn is closing.

“In fact we have recently had our premises licence granted and Bob, who is the current licensee, has also just obtained his personal licence.”

Unsure as to where the rumours began, Carole-Ann is keen to stop them in their tracks. “The Meadow Inn employs 10 members of staff, who are all local and we have had to reassure them that their jobs are still safe,” she said.

“It is unsettling when something like this happens.”

Carole-Ann is proud of the Meadow Inn’s links with the community and the investment they put in staff.

“We are currently supporting Crieff in Leaf and have offered staff the opportunity to complete their personal licence training. I am delighted to say that Valerie Laurie has recently completed this training and two other members of staff are booked to do theirs.”

The Meadow Inn is also part of the pub watch scheme and continues to work with the local police on pub watch issues.
