Safety message delivered at Crieff car event

THE Car Zone event at Crieff’s Taylor Park attracted a good turn out of locals on Saturday, interested to learn more about safe and responsible driving.

Representatives from the emergency services along with Perth and Kinross Council’s Youth Services team, BASICS Scotland, local driving instructors and car specialists, where on hand throughout the event to give information and advice to both drivers and their passengers.

The climax of the afternoon was an extrication exercise which showed the man power and expertise which is need to safely remove a person from a car involved in a crash.

Commenting on Saturday’s event, Sergeant George Black said: “All services are committed by way of campaigns and public events to raise awareness of all the issues associated with road safety.

“All to often the message doesn’t get across until something happens which is really too late.

“The target age group for today’s event was 17 to 25 years. However it is as important to get the message across to those younger than that and their parents to try and emphasis the safe drive, stay alive message.”
