Muthill Primary hosts Ghana assembly

MUTHILL Primary School recently held a special Ghana assembly and invited along some special visitors.

Speaking first was Mrs Reid, who told everyone about her visit to Muthill’s sister school in Ghana this summer and how lots of children at the Juliet Johnson School still have to squeeze into a mini bus meant for 24.

Ross, Fiona and Sarah from the Ghana/Scotland Committee (GAS for short!) introduced a video taken by Mr Reid showing pupils getting off their bus. Ross invited everyone present to count them! Most people gave up at 82. So it’s obvious Juliet Johnson School need a new bus.

Then came the good news, Mr Willie Bell and Mr Ian Wilcock from the Crieff Rotary gave a donation of £1000 and Mr Allan Lauder of Lodge St John, Muthill, handed over £450 raised at a Rudyard Kipling Night.

And finally Rhona from Primary three announced that her class were giving over the proceeds of their recent Bring and Buy sale which meant another £30 for the appeal This brought the appeal in just one morning £1480 closer to its target!

After the assembly the pupils at Muthill tried to see how many they could squeeze into Sweeney’s school bus and managed a staggering 64.
