Independence complications warning

A key SNP economic adviser has said Scotland would "gain little" from independence.

Dr John Kay, a visiting professor at the London School of Economics, was asked by Alex Salmond in 2007 to join the newly established Council of Economic Advisers (CEA).

In an article published in the Scotland on Sunday newspaper, Dr Kay said independence would bring political and economic complications. He argued an independent Scotland would be economically viable but said it was uncertain whether it would be better off after separation.
