Cash for rural projects increased

The amount of funding available for projects in rural areas will be increased, the Scottish Government has announced.

Small businesses, renewable energy schemes and community projects can apply for 50% of their funding through the Leader programme.

But now projects can get as much as 90% of their required funding from the programme, which has about £58 million to distribute until 2013, Environment Secretary Richard Lochhead said.
