Fishing industry gets £3m

A £3 million funding package for the fishing industry has been announced by environment minister Mike Russell.

The money - Scotland's allocation from the European Fisheries Fund for 2008 - will be fast-tracked, with shell fish and fish farms able to bid for the money until the end of the year.

The minister made the announcement during a Holyrood debate on the aquaculture (underwater agriculture) industry.
