Government carbon emissions call

The Scottish Government will not face sanctions if it fails to make progress on cutting greenhouse gases, a Holyrood committee heard.

Transport minister Stewart Stevenson said there had been calls for the Government to fine itself if too little progress was made.

"It seems a strange approach to doing things," he went on. "It's much more important that the government must show remedy if progress is not being made, and it is accountable to Parliament in the normal way."
