New Cayman snaps to LA beat
MORE environmentally friendly engines are being introduced by Porsche on its Cayman coupe.
The Cayman now has an engine of 2.9-litres, which develops 265bhp and is a significant increase of 20 horsepower over the current 2.7-litre model.
The 3.4-litre engine in the Cayman S gets an even bigger power hike of 25bhp up to a new high of 320bhp.
The revised models also have the option of Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission, which is a new double-clutch automatic gearbox to replace the Tiptronic S system.
The Cayman S with PDK and Launch Control accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds and can manage economy of 31mpg, which is a ten per cent improvement.
Emissions have been reduced by up to 16 per cent so that the Cayman with a standard six-speed manual gearbox emits 221g/km and 214g/km with PDK. The Cayman S manual emits 223g/km and 221g/km with PDK.
This moves every Cayman model into Band F for road tax and company car taxation purposes.
The new Cayman will cost from £36,870 whilst the Cayman S will be priced from £45,050.
