Scotland may have mixed weather – with four seasons in one day – but it can be a great source of energy for you and your home.
If you’re interested in finding out more about how you could generate your own energy at home, get in touch with your local Energy Saving Scotland advice centre to find out more.
We can offer:
• Free, impartial and in-depth advice on the best renewables options for you
There are different types of renewables systems available for homes of all shapes and sizes but it’s important to choose the right one for you. The Energy Saving Trust can provide advice over the phone or a specialist can come to your home to assess your property and advise which systems would best suit your needs. We even have tools on our website that help you work out for yourself what system may suit your home.
• Information on offers and financial support available to you
The upfront costs of renewables systems can often be a barrier for homeowners but there is financial support and incentives available. The Energy Saving Trust offer interest-free loans, provided by the Scottish Government, to help with the cost of the systems. You could also claim a one-off cash back voucher for heat generating systems such as solar hot water panels, heat pumps or wood fuelled boilers.
• Help to find installers and quotes
We can help you find a certified renewables installer who is based in or works in Scotland.
• The opportunity to visit and learn from local residents who have already installed a renewable technology
Interested homeowners can visit a local home with a renewables system through the Green Homes Network. You can search for a green home near you by visiting energysavingtrust.org.uk/scotland/greenhomes.
